Al-Jazeera Channel Fired 1,000 employees
Cairo , HelloEgy.
Britain's Guardian newspaper confirmed that Al-Jazeera plans to fire between 800 to a thousand employees, as part of a comprehensive plan of expenses, citing a decline in oil prices, which reflected a decline in the Qatari Treasury, which funds the channel revenues.
It was also explained that the cancellation of the British newspaper jobs will not affects the channel "Al Jazeera America," and will include primarily the Arab section in their network.
Yesterday, the Channel official confirmed that there is no decision yet on the abolition of jobs in the Qatari channel, in response to information published by a British newspaper about the possibility of abolishing "Al Jazeera" about a thousand jobs.
The official told AFP that the administration "has not taken any decision yet. May cancel more jobs and maybe not," adding that everything is possible and negotiations are going well.
The channel began broadcasting in 1996, and today has a staff of about five thousand employees and distributors around the world, and has already begun for months in laying off employees and workers under the pretext of austerity.
During the recent years, the channel witnessed a sharp decline in viewership, especially after the so-called Arab Spring, where the channel accused of large-scale work to raise the rumors, and falsification of video clips to achieve specific interests, and that country's performance to implement a US agenda, which is why the number of countries have banned its broadcasting, including Egypt, which has prosecuted some of the falling prostrate on charges of espionage.
