Nudity ... a bad way to express good ideas
Cairo: HelloEgy. For some people, nudity became the best way to protest, that’s because it can get the attraction. So, the idea can be delivered to bigger number of people. Many times, these ideas are so noble, like protecting “animal rights” or equality between men and women. But to deliver, or express, these ideas; the protesters use immoral ways to express their mind, they thought it’s a good way. But actually the effect of the good ideas ends at some time, while the bad ideas remain for long. Hundreds of people were gathered to watch more than 25 women who decided to go ‘topless’ to prove their right to be equal to men, specially that law of Maine state approve the right of both men and women to go ‘topless’. Andria Simonio, the head of Farmington University, stated that she has organized this march to make sure of women-men equality, and to remind the citizens of the state that the law allows women to go topless in public. She did so to criticize what she called “duplicity of criteria” for the people who were surprised to see topless women while they take no action towards topless men. The march was surrounded by police men to make sure that situation wouldn’t get out of control. Simonio stated that: “I want people to be opening minded and to be used to see topless women. We carried out our march and no one get hurt, so I think that going out topless cannot be a reason of problems.” A great number of citizens in Farmington did not support this idea. In this respect, Allen Graham, a female citizen, said that this march has caused a dangerous social damage. This march is a real shame on society. The women who participated have humiliated themselves and also delivered a very negative and extremist message for young girls that ‘nudity’ is something usual”. On the other hand, the government of Maine State announced that the march moved peacefully without violating the law. In Australia, an artist called Stewart Ringholt asked the visitors of his exhibition, to take off their clothes and walk around naked. He justified his strange request by aiming at removing material barriers between the artist and his visitors. This was the strangest event in Sydney ever. The Australian artist claimed that his goal was to treat “the concept of fear and embarrassment" at the interesting event. The invitation was entitled in long words containing “wander in the nude exhibition, and who would like to join us should be naked as well, away of all the material barriers join Ringholt’s tour followed by a reception attending naked.” The administration of the museum announced that the exhibition had gained a new perspective as the visitors walked in naked.
In Britain, a women's rowing team won a record crossing the Atlantic Ocean from the Canary Islands to Barbados, within 45 days while they were naked. The team was called “row for freedom” used a sea route that was used in the nineteenth century, to transport slaves between Europe and the Americas. The team consisted of 5 women under the leadership of Debbie Biddle. The journey was about 2600 miles to save money for the British charities to stop human trafficking. Biddle said “we spent most of the time rowing nude because the wet cloths increase the friction of the skin, which may cause sores," and continued: “rowing naked also means that we can dry quickly instead of being wet all the time ... It’s wonderful feeling to achieve this and we really worked hard”. Besides the sores caused by the continues hard rowing, there were some other challenges faced the team. A technical malfunction had stopped their boat; also they lost most of food after their boat was flooded in water. She added: “all the abstractions did encourage us to continue, we kept singing to keep our courage. But finally we were completely dry, but it was a great feeling when we realized that we succeeded”. In a smile, she confirmed that the next mission her team will be wearing cloths instead of being nude.
