From shriek to sleek! Britney Spears transforms from scruffy and casual to a neon vision in form-fitting bandage dress at X Factor semi-final
By Daily Mail Reporter
She may have been just hours away from taking to the stage in front of a television audience of millions.
But Britney Spears didn't look in the least bit camera ready as she arrived at the X Factor studios ahead of shooting the show's semi-final on Wednesday night.
And the 31-year-old singer must have undergone a makeover of epic proportions as she stepped out on stage looking preened and polished to perfection later in the evening.
The pop princess looked somewhat dishevelled as she arrived for filming, with her blonde locks piled on top of her head in a decidedly scruffy fashion.
As well as her hair leaving a lot to be desired, the star seemed to still be wearing last night's make-up, with black shadow smudged in patchy rings around her eyes.
A far cry from her sexy show dress, Britney also looked a tad unkempt when it came to her clothing choices.
The mother-of-two teamed stained black skinny jeans with a pair of bizarre tan-coloured high-top trainers, a turquoise blouse and a grey hooded jumper.
Britney completed her ensemble with a red backpack that looked as if it had been borrowed off one of her children, while opting for an unflattering bra-less look.
But after a few hours of the X Factor hair and make-up team working their magic, the former teen star appeared to have undergone an epic transformation.
Stepping out on stage, Britney cut a sleek figure in her plunging neon yellow minidress.
The form-fitting design of the bandage dress flaunted the star's impressive curves in all their glory, unlike her previous ensemble which had done little to flatter her figure by swamping her shape under baggy garments.
The singer had evidently discovered the wonders of a hairbrush and had her peroxide blonde locks hanging straight around her shoulders, while her wispy frige was back in place rather than being swept to one side.
Gone was the 'still there from the night before' make-up and in its place were smouldering, sexy, smokey eyes and a flawless complexion.
And Britney couldn't seem to hide her delight at her makeover, beaming from ear-to-ear as she assumed her place alongside Simon Cowell, Demi Lovato and L.A. Reid on the X Factor judging panel.
Semi-finalists Tate Stevens, Carly Rose Sonenclar, Emblem3 and Fifth Harmony each sang two songs as they sought to win enough viewers votes to take them through to next week's final and a shot at the $5m recording contract.
Britney's contestant Carly, a 13-year-old schoolgirl from Westchester, New York, impressed with a rendition of Elton John's Your Song, before turning her talents to the piano while she sang along to John Lennon's Imagine.
Britney said: 'I think you have blossomed into a huge superstar already and I so proud to be your mentor.'
Thursday night's show will see three acts go through to next week's X Factor final.
